Client Overview

Casinofy is an online casino affiliate website covering casino reviews, casino bonuses, slot and game reviews, gambling guides and related comparison content.

The site operates in one of the most competitive and quality-sensitive SEO verticals. In gambling affiliate SEO, performance depends on more than publishing lots of review content. Google has to trust the site, understand its topical value, and see that pages offer something genuinely useful beyond generic casino descriptions, bonus tables and templated review structures.

What the Client Needed

Casinofy needed an advanced SEO audit to understand why organic performance had declined and what needed to change to recover visibility.

The audit reviewed the site's organic performance over time, technical compliance, indexing performance, content performance, content quality and broader SEO health. The aim was to provide clear insights and actionable recommendations that Casinofy could use to improve future organic performance.

A single high-performing page was responsible for a very large share of total organic traffic, which made the site highly vulnerable. When that page lost visibility, the overall domain decline looked severe.

The Challenge

The core challenge was a significant organic decline following major Google core updates. Both clicks and impressions dropped substantially from mid-August 2024 onwards, with a further impact around the November core update.

A key discovery was that the site's traffic profile was extremely top-heavy. A single high-performing page was responsible for a very large share of total organic traffic, which made the site highly vulnerable.

The audit also found that many indexed or indexable URLs were contributing little or no organic value. Many affected pages were not technically thin, containing substantial word counts, which suggested the problem was not simply content length. The more likely issues were content uniqueness, perceived helpfulness, internal linking, trust signals, search demand, and value decay over time.

The Goal

The goal was to identify whether the decline was caused by technical SEO issues, content quality issues, Google update impact, weak internal linking, authority problems, or a combination of factors. The audit needed to answer:

  • Which pages and sections lost the most visibility?
  • Was the decline caused by rankings slipping, query loss, or content devaluation?
  • How much of the site's traffic depended on one or two URLs?
  • Which subfolders were underperforming?
  • Why were indexable pages not being indexed?
  • Were casino review and game review pages strong enough to justify indexation?
  • What needed to change across content, trust, internal linking and technical SEO?

What We Did

We carried out an advanced SEO audit across Casinofy, covering organic performance, technical SEO, indexation, content quality, subfolder performance and link profile quality. The audit included:

Google Search Console trend analysis across clicks, impressions, CTR and average position
Core update impact review, including August and November update effects
Query count analysis to understand whether losses were caused by ranking slippage or reduced query coverage
Page-level performance segmentation to identify top-heavy traffic reliance
Subfolder analysis across casino games, online casinos, guides, bonuses and root-level URLs
Indexation review covering discovered, crawled but not indexed, unknown to Google and noindex states
Internal linking checks to understand why important pages were not being discovered effectively
Technical review across canonicals, internal 404s, robots.txt, hreflang and other crawl/index signals
Content quality review focused on E-E-A-T, accuracy, freshness, unique value and review depth
Backlink review covering link relevance, broken backlinks, anchor profile, topical trust and quality

A key part of the work was separating technical indexation issues from content quality and perceived value issues. The audit found that many indexable URLs were technically accessible, but Google was still choosing not to index or retain them, indicating a broader quality, trust and usefulness problem rather than a simple crawlability issue.

What Was Achieved

The audit gave Casinofy a much clearer diagnosis of what had happened. Rather than treating the decline as a generic “Google update hit”, the work separated the issue into two parts: a major loss from a single high-value page, and broader site-wide weakness across review and game content.

The audit showed that the issue was not simply a lack of content volume. The site had a lot of content, but much of it was not generating meaningful organic value. This shifted the strategic focus towards improving content quality, trust, internal linking, freshness and unique added value.

From a content perspective, the audit recommended strengthening E-E-A-T signals, improving author transparency, enhancing the About page, demonstrating first-hand iGaming expertise, and adding more original value beyond generic feature lists.

From an authority perspective, the backlink review highlighted that many links were low-value or irrelevant, with only a small proportion directly relevant to the site's core topic.
